Deputy Head Boy

I have had an amazing five years at Naenae College and have enjoyed every moment. Through my service as Deputy Head Boy this year, I wanted to give back to the school that has given me so much in the past, and helped shaped me into the person I am today. As I walk out of these doors, I feel accomplished, knowing that Naenae College has become a part of my life.

A journey that began thirteen years ago has arrived at its end point. Just five years ago, I was an awkward pre-teen ready to embark on the long journey of high school here at Naenae College. Five years is a long time, but it seems it all just happened yesterday.

Sitting in the hall on my very first day I knew very little, but I did know that my time at Naenae College was going to be challenging. But deep down, at the back of mind, I also knew that these five years were going to be the most enjoyable experiences of my young life. From that day, that journey that started in 2007, I have developed to become the person, the individual I am today.

I would like to sincerely and wholeheartedly thank the amazing staff, volunteers, and parents here at Naenae College who have dedicated and invested their time to help create this unforgettable journey for me. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experiences. To all the teachers who have taught me over the years, you have not only been an instructor but an inspiration. My success is your success.

It has been an honour and privilege to serve the school as Deputy Head boy this year and be Co-chair of the Student Council. Each of these roles has helped make me grow as a leader and I have really enjoyed the experience. As an all-rounder, I have always pushed myself to do well in the classroom as well as on the sports field. I think is it crucial that we, as students, involve ourselves in many areas of school life as possible. Take risks, take chances, while striving towards excellence. Your time at Naenae College is way too short to have any opportunities go to waste.

Thank you to everyone who has put icing on the Darryn Kouoi cake. To the Class of 2011, I wish you all the best for your future endeavours. Go seize it, taking it into your own hands. Do with it what you will and I hope you all realise your dreams one day.

Thank you Naenae College for an amazing five years.

“Memory is the treasurer and guardian of all things”, and I will have my family, my friends to remind me of my journey here at Naenae College.

13 letters. 5 years. And 1 huge waterfall of endless memories.
